Rising South African R&B talent Kila G has officially kicked off the next chapter of his musical journey with the release of his deeply evocative single, “Kutheni” featuring fellow R&B standout Stanley Branson. Released on 10 July, this emotionally rich track marks the first offering from Kila G’s forthcoming album, Distorted Closure, slated for release later this year.

On “Kutheni” a Xhosa word meaning “why”,  Kila G dives headfirst into the quiet unraveling of a relationship. The track captures the raw, often-overlooked space between two people where nothing seems obviously wrong, yet the distance is undeniable. Through lush production, soulful vocals, and introspective lyricism, the song paints a picture of love in limbo where confusion and longing linger in every pause.

“It’s about that bittersweet moment when everything feels fine, yet something is subtly wrong,” Kila G explains. “Kutheni is a plea, a cry to understand what changed and how to find our way back.”Kila G on Kutheni

The chemistry between Kila G and Stanley Branson is electric, with Branson’s smooth harmonies adding emotional weight to the already poignant storytelling. The result is a powerful, slow-burning anthem that resonates with anyone who’s ever questioned the silence growing between them and someone they love.

Kutheni offers both a sonic and cinematic experience, further cementing Kila G’s reputation as one of the genre’s most exciting new voices. His upcoming album, Distorted Closure, promises a curated blend of heartfelt narratives, rich production, and collaborations that span the spectrum of modern R&B.

With “Kutheni” now streaming on all major platforms, fans and new listeners alike are invited to witness an artist coming into his own, honest, vulnerable, and unapologetically soulful.
